Danni Barger, the 2007
Alpenglow Scholarship Recipient
Music has always been my passion and has recently become a focal point in my life. Hello, my name is Danni Barger and I have had the privilege of receiving the Alpenglow Music Scholarship this year. Throughout my school career I have participated in choir, beginning in first grade when I would attend after school practice and church choir practice every Sunday for 11 years. At the age of 14 I began voice lessons ranging from weekly rehearsals to recitals and eventually show choir auditions. With my move to Summit County, participation in Summit Singers lasted until the end of my high school career, focusing on activities such as Concerts, the Madrigal Feast, and Western Slope Honor Choir; not to mention Musicals including the recent Once Upon a Mattress. I should also mention my internship with Mrs. Cathie Hill of Summit High School, which allowed me to teach and conduct the mixed choir in the jazz piece Operator. My future dreams include a start in the fall semester of Brigham Young University-Idaho with a double major in Vocal Performance and Music Education, as well as, a minor in French. I also hope to open my own business teaching voice lessons in the afternoons. As I conclude, I would like to thank the scholarship committee for their generous gift; and I hope to make them proud. |
